RIP Arthur Vaughan-Richards
We were all shattered by the sudden death of Arthur last week. He was a lovely, gentle, generous man and a supremely gifted and unique singer and songwriter with styles ranging from Reggae and African rhythms to Jazz colourings and beautiful ballads. He also in his alter-ego ‘Island Monkey’ took a more political stance.
Rush Music was in the process of putting together his first album. (We have enough material for two) consisting of his work with producer Robbie Shilliam, his band Orishirishi and Island Monkey. We will finish this Album over the coming months, so a wider audience can appreciate the enormous talent we have just lost.
We miss you so much Arthur, our Friend
Here is one of his songs from the forthcoming album

The words say it all, maybe we didn’t listen enough
Such a beautiful song. The first I’ve heard by him. I’ve played it a few times over and it seems to carry with it a lot of life lived and wisdom gathered. I’ve looked for more on You Tube but there seems to be nothing about Arthur Vaughn Richards anywhere.
Thanks for the posting and song.
May he R.I.P.
Hi – please can you keep me posted/put me on a mailing list re Arthur – he was an old friend and band mate but we hadn’t connected in years – very sad
Hi Khalid. I will post any news on the Rush Music site. But there is a Party on 25th June in Mallorca at SaTaronja Arts Centre Andratx and another being planned there in August.
I hope to have the album on iTunes by the end of August
RIP Arthur .
Arthur was my cousin and in the 60/70’s we were class mates at St Saviours School Ikoyi and St Gregorys College Ikoyi both in Lagos Nigeria .
We both left afterwards for the U.K. for further studies and I did not see or hear from him again. Arthur was always talented and a great spirit
RIP Brother
